Lab Tests: Display – iPhone 14
The iPhone 14’s 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display performs well in our lab tests, as image quality is quite good with sharp details and bright sunlight legibility. The screen is bright and sharp (2532 x 1170 pixels, 460ppi), which every bit of a resolution you are likely to require for web browsing or watching HDR content.

That said, the color of an iPhone 14 is a highlight. This almost reaches into 100% of the DCI-P3 color range, and gets an impressive Delta-E score also below 1 (that means terrific color accuracy) plus it is fantastic for practicing photographs or perhaps consuming content.
On brightness testing the monitor hits an average 800 nits and up to 1,200 nits peak in HDR mode. This makes the device highly visible under any condition, indoor and outdoor (even in direct sunlight).
OLED, as you probably know, can turn individual pixels on or off — which is why TVs like this have phenomenal contrast ratios. The panel is only 60Hz, so it lacks the 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate of the Pros, but it’s perfectly smooth for everyday use.
All in all, the display on the iPhone 14 is really good for what it is — great visuals with high color accuracy and brightness, adamant one of the best non-Pro screens on a smartphone.
