Loudspeakers: iPhone 14
Stereo speakers on the iPhone 14 provide plenty of sound for things like media playback, gaming, speakerphone calls and everyday music listening. There’s a bottom-firing speaker alongside the top earpiece used to at least produce stereo sound.
Subjectively, the loudspeakers sound really nice for how slim this phone is in real-world testing. The highs are sharp, the mids come through nicely and though it doesn’t have much bass which is nice to see because it does avoid distortion at higher volumes and has clear bass when is audible. The volume might be maxed out for a small room and fills the space very well without distortion.
The iPhone 14 also plays back content in spatial audio with dynamic head tracking when used with AirPods, but even through the built-in speakers there is a sense of directionality and atmosphere with stereo soundtracks for watching movies or playing games.
Call clarity, particularly on speakerphone, is strong with the microphones doing an outstanding job isolating your voice from background noise.
While it may not be as loud as the iPhone 14 Plus or Pro Max, the speaker quality on our latest is top-notch for its size, music and media playback being loud and clear.
