Lab Tests: Display – Huawei Nova Y63
The display will be a 6.52-inch LCD panel with an HD+ resolution (1600 × 720 pixels== It is no the most razor-sharp display market by any stretch, but it renders enough sharpness for browsing, social media and casual movie watching. The colors look organic and are slightly warm, so it’s a nice experience when looking at the screen for a long time.
We have tested the display to peak brightness of about 450 nits in our lab-style appraisal, adequate for indoor admission and limited open-air utilization. Presenting visibility in direct daylight is a test. For an LCD, the contrast ratio is respectable and fating between lightest whites and darkest blacks of an image is good but as pure voluntary black aren’t deep as OLED panel.
Horizontal viewing angles are quite wide, but colors begin to shift when the screen is tilted even slightly forward or backward. It provides smooth and precise touch response which makes everyday navigation and casual gaming easier. Given the targeted demographic of this device, a standard 60Hz screen refresh is adequate but will feel sluggish when compared to flagships and even mid-ranges with high refresh rates.
The Nova Y63’s display isn’t befitting of a flagship tier media consumption device but does the job fairly fine for all-day usage.
