Music, movies, and gaming can hit the right notes with a dual stereo speaker setup on the Huawei Pura 80. The top earpiece serves as the second speaker while the main down-firing unit takes care of most of the volume output. When fused together, they provide a symmetrically balanced stereo sound with distinction in landscape mode for video playback and gaming.
Our lab tests showed that high-volume levels didn’t introduce much distortion, so they’d be useable in moderately loud spaces. Harmonics from midrange frequencies including vocals and dialogue are clear and well-defined while treble stays clean but neither is too bright or sibilant. Bass is naturally subdued given the svelte body design, but Huawei’s software tuning actually helps add some heft to the bass response, yielding a more rounded sound.
Huawe Pura 80 also supports Huawei Histen audio technology, with 3D audio effects and increased customization of EQ settings. This lets users manipulate the sound profile based on the activity, be it watching a movie, podcasts, or gaming.
Arguably, with no 3.5mm headphone jack (wired audio must go through USB-C or an adapter), this is only partially effective, but the unit’s wireless audio quality is stellar with high-bitrate Bluetooth codec support for LDAC and LHDC.
