True Tone
What is True Tone?
True Tone, an Apple screen technology that alters the white color temperature and brightness of your display depending on the kind of room you’re in.
How True Tone Works
Another example recently tweeted by Mark Gurman: True Tone uses complex multi-channel sensors to dynamically adjust the white point based on ambient light measurements for both color and brightness. This subtly adjusts the white balance of the display making it appear more natural and easier on your eyes in all lighting conditions.
Benefits of True Tone
More Natural Viewing Experience
Not too blue (too cold) and not too yellow (too warm). Paper-like: natural light display
Less Eye Strain
This is particularly good for variable lighting (eg moving from indoors to outdoors) — it makes the eyes work less.
The best everyday white balance
Images and web pages will appear more consistent as they would in diverse light conditions.
