One of the most popular virtual assistants today has to be Siri, the voice that lives inside your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and even HomePod. Siri: The launch app of the iPhone 4S in 2011, that changed our interaction with devices. Instead of tap, you could say.
Need to send a text? Set an alarm? Check the weather? All you have to do is say, “Hey Siri,” and ask. Imagine having a little assistant in your pocket around the clock. Love her or hate her, Siri does a pretty OK job of interpreting spoken English — not to mention kudos to Apple for making Siri gradually smarter and more human-like in dialogue. It can give you answers, guide you somewhere, control your smart home gadgets, and tell a few jokes if you are bored.
Moreover, Siri is more integrated into the entire Apple ecosystem. You can tell it to play some Apple Music, and open apps, set reminders or read out your last few messages. In case of iOS and iPadOS, however, with Siri Shortcuts you can go as granular as: “Hey Google, create a new reminder”. 2.
Siri, favoring convenience over perfection, falls short of always correctly handling complex questions but ultimately represents a useful addition to Apple’s roster. It simply gets quicker, more responsive and ultimately better with each update.
