Because OLEDs do not need a backlight, as an LCD does, the actual light emitted by an individual OLED pixel can be controlled. So that when part of the screen is black, those pixels are actually turned off — for true blacks and incredible contrast. The result? Most of the time colors are jaw dropping, Black is black like it should be and everything looks again more realistic.
