iPad mini 4
Performance: Big phone or small tablet?
Responding to people who wanted a small tablet that could do everything, Apple launched the iPad mini 4 in September of 2015. An even smaller tablet with a 7.9-inch Retina display, it was easy to slip into pretty much any bag or a very large pocket while still handling typical day-to-day tasks exceptionally well.
Under the hood, we see an Apple A8 processor and 2GB RAM which ensured great multitasking performance and smooth running of apps. Be it Netflix, eBooks, web-surfing or e-mail chores the mini 4 had the muscle to perform the task.
The unique feature of the iPad mini 4 was its size. It offered the promise of Kindle superpowers; travel-friendly, light in the hand, child-friendly or a perfect casual lounge device. It also came with a better 8MP rear camera and Touch ID to make it more secure.
While it was missing Apple Pencil, and the latest keybords it still received iPadOS 15 — meaning that features like multitasking, and iPad split-screen were all supported. As much as we gripe, even now many of us still love the mini 4 for its reliability and size.
For the most part, that was — and still is — the iPad mini 4 if all you wanted was something light but capable.
