iOS 12 was released on September 17, 2018 and it came with enhancements in performance and stability as well as some new featuresst iOS 12 was released to the public last week following the special iPhone event. Its purpose was to help your old device feel snappier and more responsive, whilst also peppering in some new features for good measure.
Key Features of iOS 12:
Performance Improvements:
iOS 12 made huge improvements to device performance, particularly on older models like the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6. The apps opened faster, the system was more responsive and animations became fluid.
Group Notifications:
Appwise grouped notifications, resulting in less clutter and a much more cleaner ecosystem. That would also give users better control over their alert preferences, and not just by app.
Screen Time:
Screen Time is a feature built into iOS 12 to help you better understand your device usage. Android Q also strips app usage to percentages and hours used for digital wellbeing — read Android 10 — while custom limits existed, the data gave a closer look at how much time is spent on apps.
Memoji and Animoji Enhancements:
Apple had, when it introduced Memoji with iOS 12, allowed users to create their own avatar. And the Animoji experience was also broadened to include new characters like a ghost, koala, and tiger.
Siri Shortcuts:
Including the addition of Siri Shortcuts, which let you create your own voice commands to easily execute….. actions and automatically perform everyday tasks with one click.
Improved FaceTime:
The biggest feature, of course, being Group FaceTime that enables up to 32 people to video call at the same time. This feature allowed us to do better communication and more collaboration.
Improved AR (Augmented Reality):
ARKit 2 was introduced with iOS 12, featuring improved tracking and more realistic AR experiences for apps using it.
