Dolby: True to Its Warrior of Pioneered Audio & Visual Technologies
Dolby Laboratories is known for its audio, imaging and voice technologies that transform entertainment and communication at the cinema, at home or on the go. Dolby was founded in 1965, and the name is now associated with all manner of high-definition audio and video technologies used in movie theaters, home theater systems, smartphones, and streaming platforms.
One of their more well-known innovations is Dolby Atmos, which is an upgraded version of surround sound that gives sounds the ability to move freely in any direction within a three-dimensional space around a listener. It is employed in cinemas, home theaters as well as audio-enabled headphones and other devices for superior, more vibrant sound experiences.
Additionally, Dolby is the company behind Dolby Vision (as those who Red points out), a high-dynamic-range imaging technology that significantly improves the image quality of content by providing a wider range of brightness and depth with more lifelike colors. The technology enriches the look of images in movies, streaming content and games.
Dolby also finds its way into the consumer electronics world through entertainment, TV/Video streaming services to smartphones and soundbars which eventually enhances everyone’s multimedia experience. Today, Dolby sets the standard for the most life-like and immersive (AV) experiences.
