Controls and Connectivity – iPhone XS Max (Global)
The iPhone XS Max is laid-out as user-friendly as it can for an ultra-simple design. The right side houses the side button, which can wake the device, activate Siri, and is used to power off or on the phone. The left side features only volume up and down along with a ring/silent switch for changing alert modes quickly.

That’s because, without the Home button, all navigation is done through gestures (goodbye two-finger tap to invert colors and say hello to that screen area being the swipe bar) — a change also seen on the iPhone X — with unlocking only possible via Face ID: Apple’s facial recognition software made possible by the high-powered TrueDepth camera system nestled up inside the notch at the top of that beautiful display.
The connected tech is thorough, with 4G LTE Advanced for fast data on the go, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for upgraded wireless speeds and stability, Bluetooth 5.0 for seamless device pairing and NFC with Apple Pay support to keep payments contactless and secure. In the case of this phone, that means the Lightning port (for both charging and wired accessories) placed in between dual speaker grills for stereo audio output.
The XS Max also has dual SIM function (nano-SIM and eSIM) for two phone numbers in one device, which should come in handy for travelers or business users.
In the end, the iPhone XS Max has a fundamentally strong control scheme and deep connectivity to cover up for it making sure that any interactions will be seamless.
