Introduction: iPhone 14 Pro
Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro, the follow-up to the well-reviewed iPhone 13 Pro, is a big hit, Apple may actually do so. While it keeps the familiar design, this one brings some of the biggest changes iPhone has seen in years — making it an attractive option for those who want to go with innovation and high-end look in a smaller package compared to Pro Max.

The change begins with the Dynamic Island, a slot in the shape of a pill that serves in place of the traditional notch. It combines system alerts, background activities, and user interactions with fluid animations, blurring the line between hardware and software in a distinctly Apple style.
Of course, the iPhone 14 Pro is running the A16 Bionic chip with improved power efficiency and top-tier performance onPostExecute Display-wise, the 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR panel features ProMotion (120Hz), Always-On Display and up to 2000 nits outdoor brightness that illuminates your content in a crisp, sharp and lag-free manner.
They also bring a 48MP main camera to the device, allowing for crisper photos, better low-light performance, and ProRAW shooting. The iPhone 14 Pro packs iOS features, epic battery life, and the kind of Apple ecosystem integration you can’t get anywhere else into a compact powerhouse that’s perfect if Pro Max is just too much phone for you.

Unboxing: iPhone 14 Pro
As far as the iPhone 14 Pro itself, Apple continues to put a big focus on sustainability and simplicity with a presentation that is very minimalist and refined. This box is deliberately slim and efficient, in line with Apple’s ongoing efforts to lessen packaging waste. It is also securely sealed with paper pull-tabs, no cellophane in sight.

At your end, once you open the box, you will find iPhone 14 Pro — which lays face down, enveloped in a paper of protection. At first sight, the polished stainless steel frame and a textured matte glass rear reflect a laminated hardened feel. The front of the Dynamic Island is immediately recognizable due to that title–teasing an all-new user experience for the brand.
Here you get just the basics under the device: a USB-C to Lightning cable, SIM ejector tool (most regions), quick start guide and one Apple sticker. This is in part to satisfy Apple’s environmental objectives, meaning you’ll need to either use an existing adapter (if you have one) or buy one separately.
There are no unnecessary items in the presentation that will distract you from focusing on the device itself. The iPhone 14 Pro is weighty, the sort of heft that makes you feel like someone took a solid jump out of your cupped hand for the first time, telling you immediately that this is a premium device designed to be both powerful and precise.
Design of the iPhone 14 Pro
As for the iPhone 14 Pro, it fulfills its status as an ultra-premium Apple device with some nice yet relatively minor tweaks.. That design includes a nice and durable surgical-grade stainless steel frame all the way around, with Ceramic Shield on both sides in front and back and a textured matte glass that adds elegance as well better grip.

The most prominent of the design tweaks is that absence of the classic notch, replaced by the new Dynamic Island — a punch-hole cutout. The notion of a responsive future continues to hold true in another new design element that is more than just for kicks as it creates an interactive space to give you notifications, live activities and ongoing tasks like music or timers you might have running.
It will adorn a 6.1-inch flat-edge design similar to the 13 Pro, as well. Its available in Space Black, Silver, Gold, Deep Purple. The 48MP sensor has improved as well, but the bump at the back is slightly bigger than its predecessor, giving it a more aggressive look.
In general, the iPhone 14 Pro hardware is luxurious and practical, brought to life by Dynamic Island for a modern experience.
Build Quality: iPhone 14 Pro
This is a textbook example of how to craft a premium smartphone — the iPhone 14 Pro. It is still built with a surgical-grade stainless steel frame which provides a luxurious, mirror finish.” to “The device retains a luxurious sheen and structural integrity due to the continued use of this surgical-grade stainless steel frame. The back is made of a matted glass material which should be nice on the hands and not as prone to fingerprints as glossy finishes.

Up front, Apple has used the Ceramic Shield glass on display which is expected to deliver better drop protection than standard smartphone glass. It is one of the most durable around and survives much better knocks and minor scratches than cheaper efforts.
For its size among the Pro Max, the iPhone 14 Pro feels remarkably strong in hand. What we do find in the Lexus LC 500, thankfully, is an impeccably built interior; there’s nary a panel gap to be found. The materials fit tightly together with no flex or creaking noises and all the buttons are clicky and respond well. Everything from the precision-cut speaker grilles to where the metal meets the glass show Apple’s level of fit and finish.
The excellent IP68 rating of the phone ensure that you get a dustproof and water-resistant body up to 6 meters for 30 minutes. This peace of mind is also for accidental spills or rainy day usage.
So the iPhone 14 Pro offers high-quality durability and finish, making for a complete top-tier device that is durable and solid.
Controls and Connectivity: iPhone 14 Pro
The iPhone 14 Pro will be an all around well connected device as far wireless connectivity goes. And, no surprise here: It’s got 5G for fast cellular performance, Wi-Fi 6 for fast internet connection times and Bluetooth 5.3 for laggard-free wireless device pairings with as little impact on battery life as possible.

Apple has always nailed it with its superbly simple and elegantly designed controller layout. The iPhone 14 Pro is comfortable, but the Siri Remote just feels like a poorly thought-out design from… a different era. A textured, tactile click on the side allows you to quickly switch between audio profiles using the classic Ring/Silent toggle.
It is a dual SIM (nano + eSIM) or single SIM (eSIM) support smartphone depending on the region and offers users from both worlds including those in India global flexibility.
On the bottom is a Lightning port for charging and data syncing (because USB-C is dumb!). USB-C is still missing on the 14 Pro, to some users disappointment it seems!
Lab Tests: Display – iPhone 14 Pro
The lab tests prove it’s one of the best screens you can get on a phone, even if its size (6.5 inches) isn’t as huge as some Samsung phones. It features a screen that can provide an impressive amount of sharp detail, while the vivid colors and excellent contrast colours really make for a dynamic experience when viewing content.

The display supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate compatible with ProMotion, which variably changes to as slow as 10Hz when only little is happening on screen and the battery would like to run longer-lasting and more efficiently. The 60Hz refresh rate helps to conserve phone power during static use (such as when you’re reading).
The iPhone 14 Pro scores high on brightness tests. For the layman, it gets as good at 1,000 nits for standard usage and an impressive 1,600 nits highlight brightness when running HDR content and finally a peak outdoor visibility of up to 2,000 nits ensuring best-in-class readability under direct sunlight — ideal for mobile photography, video streaming and gaming alike.
Color accuracy is exceptional. With HDR10/Dolby Vision and P3 wide color gamut support, images will not disappoint in terms of colors and tonality on the display by featuring True Tone.
The Always-On Display incorporates LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) tech to keep things illuminated at 1Hz without hammering the battery too hard.
Put simply, the iPhone 14 Pro display is next-level, well-calibrated and adaptive to all lighting conditions.
Battery Life – iPhone 14 Pro
The iPhone 14 Pro offers good battery performance, thanks to the power-efficient A16 Bionic chip and iOS software refinements. According to Apple, the new device has a capacity of:
- 23 hours of video playback (local/offline)
- 20 hours of streamed video playback
- 75 hours of audio playback
Under normal, everyday use, the iPhone 14 Pro will easily get you through a full day with spare room to spare. For things like web browsing, video streaming, photography, navigation, and even social media. iOS is oriented in such a way, that it can intelligently manage power consumption by prioritizing tasks and preventing further battery exhaustion.
You do not get fast charging out of the box, but you can top it up with 50% in just ~30 minutes using a 20W or higher USB-C Power Adapter (purchased separately). Additionally, it offers MagSafe wireless charging (up to 15W) and Qi wireless charging (up to 7.5W).
That leaves its battery (slightly smaller than the 14 Pro Max) in the upper echelons of performance for a phone of its size and screen class. Those who use the phone all day without stopping to charge will be able to make it into the evening and those that require a bit more life will be reaching for a power outlet by Size 5-7pm..TextImageRelation For power users, this means you’ll probably need to top off your battery in the evening if you plan on leaving the house again.
Charging Speed: iPhone 14 Pro
The iPhone 14 Pro supports wired fast charging up to 20W, which is modest compared to Android rivals offering 45W to 100W speeds. Using Apple’s 20W USB-C power adapter (sold separately), the iPhone 14 Pro can charge from 0 to 50% in around 30 minutes, and a full charge takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.
While this isn’t the fastest in the industry, Apple prioritizes battery health over raw speed. Its slower, more controlled charging generates less heat, which helps preserve battery capacity over time.
For wireless charging, the iPhone 14 Pro supports MagSafe at up to 15W. The magnetic alignment ensures consistent power delivery and works well with a wide range of MagSafe accessories. Standard Qi wireless charging is also supported, but it maxes out at 7.5W, making it slower and better suited for overnight charging.
There is no reverse wireless charging feature, a convenience available in some competing Android flagships.
Overall, the iPhone 14 Pro’s charging speed is reliable but conservative. It doesn’t aim for speed records but offers safe, consistent power delivery that matches the phone’s premium and long-lasting nature.
Loudspeakers – iPhone 14 Pro
Stereo speakers on iPhone 14 Pro offer clear and immersive stereo sound for an even more cinematic experience. It has a pair of speakers, one at the bottom and another inside the earpiece up top. Collectively, they offer an expansive stereo sound stage which elevates music, videos, games and your calls.
Apple did fine-tune the speaker system, enabling its speakers to produce richer mids and highs that are fuller and less distorted even when at its loudest. The bass extension is better than most smartphoners and the overall sound qualityis pure, dynamic and far more spacious than most smartphones ever deliver.
The iPhone 14 Pro also offer support for spatial audio with dynamic head tracking if you have compatible headphones, and Dolby Atmos when playing back supported content — and it to make sure the whole experience feels more immersive particularly while streaming music and movies from Apple.
The loudspeakers are fantastic and we have even done some preliminary hands-on tests where the voice clarity is great when it comes to speakerphone calls or FaceTime, and media playback.
Software: iPhone 14 Pro
It is powered by iOS 17 which surely be fast even this year any runs on the apple ecosystem. With iOS 16, it debuted the customizable Lock Screens, Live Activities, edit/unsend in iMessage, and improved Focus Modes. It is among the few other phones with complete availability for iOS 17 without any breaks and long-term updates extending to at least a further 5–6 years making it highly attractive in terms of its lifetime.
One of the software features that is exclusive to the 14 Pro series and works really well as compared to its peers is the Dynamic Island. It transforms the pill-shaped cutout into a notification hub with a UI element that the company calls In-View Display. Alerts, timers, music controls, Face ID prompts and background activities flow as they appear on the screen, in a way that no other smartphone can do.
Apple’s software/hardware integration ensures that every day tasks feel fast and natural. It also plays natively with Apple’s larger ecosystem, from FaceTime and iMessage to AirDrop, iCloud, Apple Pay, Continuity (so long as you have a Mac and/or iPad and/or Apple Watch).
Privacy and security are both central to the OS: App Tracking Transparency, Mail Privacy Protection, and on-device intelligence all contribute to keeping user data in your control.
That means, as is tradition from Apple, you can expect an incredibly smooth and feature-filled software experience that will be updated for years down the line with the release of new updates for iOS 17.
Performance – iPhone 14 Pro
Apple claims that the iPhone 14 Pro is among the fastest and most power-efficient smartphones of all time thanks to the A16 Bionic chipset. It comes with a 6-core CPU (2 high-performance and 4 efficiency cores), a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine built in. All of these serve very high speeds, multitasking that is very fluent and loads of AI horsepower.
The iPhone 14 Pro is absolutely flawless in everyday use cases. Applications open in an instant, multitasking is undisturbed and even high performance tasks like video editing, 3D gaming and AR applications are lag-free with no overheating. This is complemented by the ProMotion screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, making all animations and scrolling feel buttery smooth.
According to benchmark tests, the A16 Bionic is far ahead of the competition and graphics rendering is significantly faster than before and more efficient with respect to power use. The device also gets faster memory and better thermal management, providing consistent performance for long hour sessions.
If you are a casual user or a professional whose life is made complicated by hardcore apps, the iPhone 14 Pro has you covered on all bases by providing fast, stable and future-ready performance.
Camera: iPhone 14 Pro
iPhone 14 Pro is a compact smartphone offering pro-grade photography with the most powerful and adaptable triple-lens rear camera system. The headline improvement is the new 48MP wide camera, a first for iPhones, doubling resolution to deliver much more detailed images with better low-light performance and offering ProRAW capture for more demanding post-editing capabilities.
The main sensor goes ahead further to generate 12MP default images through pixel binning which enhances dynamic range and reduces noise. There’s also a new 2x optical zoom mode, which is effectively just a crop from the centre of the 48MP sensor – sandwiched between its main wide and 3x telephoto equivalents).
The 12MP ultra-wide includes a bigger sensor and offers improved low-light performance along with the ability to take macro shots, capturing exquisite details from just centimeters away. The telephoto lens brings 3x optical zoom to the equation, and uses a 12MP sensor which is fabulous for portraits and subjects further away.
Aligning the stars with Night Mode, Smart HDR 4, Deep Fusion and Photonic Engine were firing on all cylinders to make every shot count under any light. Video is also top-notch by way of 4K at 60fps, Cinematic Mode, and an accompanying Action Mode for the shakes.
In short, the iPhone 14 Pro camera system is remarkably versatile and thoughtfully augmented by software to equip it for capturing everything from everyday images to artistic endeavors.
Photo and Video Quality – iPhone 14 Pro
While the iPhone 14 Pro brings nothing significant on the optics side, it is likely going to be one of the best camera-oriented smartphones once unveiled. One of them is a new 48MP sensor which feels like the much-needed breath of fresh air, along with the usual 12MP ultra-wide and telephoto lenses with 3x optical zoom. For everyday shooting, pixel binning is used on the main sensor to output a crisper and more detailed 12MP image; however, advanced users can still capture full 48MP ProRAW photos.
Thanks to the 36MP sensor, photos are vibrant, well-exposed and color-accurate under most lighting conditions. This will improve low-light performance and make for sharper, cleaner photos with less noise overall, Night Mode — in particular.
On video you can record 4K at up to 60 fps and the dynamic range of the iphone 14 pro is excellent as well as its stabilization. It adds a new 4K HDR option for recording in Cinematic Mode for more versatile movies-like depth-of-field and real-time focus transitions. Sports Action allows for some of the smoothest video in motion I have ever seen, and is perfect for action/sports/handheld video making.
And with a powerful image signal processor (ISP) from the A16 chip, iPhone 14 Pro captures stunning photos and videos for professional-quality results whether you’re taking fast snapshots or things need to be polished up a bit.
Alternatives: iPhone 14 Pro
The iPhone 14 Pro is a top-tier phone, but also not the only high-end smartphone on your radar. If you think you can get a better deal, different features or even just prefer the Android experience, there’s no shortage of great alternatives.
If you prefer to stay in the Apple ecosystem but want a bigger screen and battery, there is also the iPhone 14 Pro Max that will offer more or less similar performance along with camera capabilities but featuring a 6.7-inch display. And for something a bit more budget-friendly, the iPhone 13 Pro remains pretty great with its 120Hz display, triple camera system and solid performance now available at a discount too.
For those looking at an Android alternative, the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ offer alluring designs, great OLED displays, powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPUs and adaptable triple camera systems of their own. Those looking for even more horsepower can opt for the Galaxy S23 Ultra with a 200MP camera, S Pen support and 100x digital zoom.
Also worth mentioning, of course, is the Google Pixel 7 Pro which is unmatched in computational photography, clean Android software and regular updates. It’s probably the favorite among mobile photographers and Android purists.
All three phones have their own strengths and you just need to decide what is the most important for yourself — whether that be size, ecosystem, camera features or price.
Pros
That robust performance propels everyday use, gaming, and creative tasks to high levels of efficiency on the iPhone 14 Pro through the A16 Bionic chip. The primary camera now shoots at 48MP, and the increase in resolution is evident when you compare photos, especially in low-light. It features a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion which makes everything appear smoother and cleaner. Introduce a Dynamic Island: A new interactive replacement that combines notifications and background activities within the visible design. It has good battery life for a compact flagship, and the stainless steel edges with ceramic shield front remain premium elements.
Cons
Some of these could be a bit on the pricey side too, especially in terms of add-ons for an iPhone 14 Pro that risk moving into territory where owners of more recent models — like the iPhone 13 Pro — may not see as much value for. The design is pretty much like the last, with only minor cosmetic updates. The device is still stuck with Apple’s Lightning port, as opposed to accepting USB-C — the main connection for most other phones of this caliber. It’s also missing some of the customization found on Android phones. The new Dynamic Island, while innovative, only supports a very few number of apps at the moment.
Verdict: iPhone 14 Pro
The iPhone 14 Pro delivers almost everything you’d want in a flagship phone and introduces just enough innovation to make it feel new (well, mostly). The standout new feature, Dynamic Island, is a super cool and unique way to manage notifications and multitasking that no other device can claim.
It delivers flawless performance, courtesy of the A16 Bionic, and everything looks fabulous on its 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display — remarkably bright and smooth (120Hz ProMotion) across all lighting conditions. The main camera is a 48MP device with great detail, dynamic range and low light performance that takes mobile photography a step forward. Its battery life is solid, and the build quality is top-tier.
In a negative sense, its charging speed is quite moderate and Apple has stuck with Lightning in 2022 and beyond, making it look rather ancient. The catch is that these premium features come at a price.
However, for those looking for the best compact flagship iPhone, the iPhone 14 Pro could be you ultimate option. It ticks all the right boxes, from photography and gaming to productivity, and if you’re just hankering for the best iOS device out there, it is the one to beat in terms of longevity and resale value.
